Katherine is a singer and composer living and working as a teacher and freelancer in Oakland. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music and English from Wesleyan University in 2011, then moved to Oakland to complete her Master’s Degree in Music Composition at Mills College. She has studied with Alvin Lucier, Fred Frith, Maggi Payne, and Molly Holm. In 2014, she received the Paul Merritt Henry Prize for excellence in string composition. This past summer, she had the honor of performing in inkBoat’s 95 Rituals, and in October she joined the group in performing Line Between at the Seoul International Dance Festival. She is currently finishing up her first solo album, singing and collaborating with several local performance groups, and exploring her interest in video art, cartooning, and animation.
