Dance on Land: California (PENDING)9:00 - 17:00
Mattole Valley, California
Imagination changes the quality of what you do and opens a field of unexpected actions. At the same time, noticing what IS leads to inexhaustible possibilities. Trust your body. Connect to the expansive space that is your personal/universal environment at Dance on Land, located on the Lost Coast of California. In this intensive workshop, led by Shinichi and Dana Iova-Koga, develop your sensorial mind and creative responsiveness through rigorous physical and improvisational training rooted in Noguchi Taiso, Body Weather Training, Action Theater, Yang Shen Gong and Qigong exercises.
Dao Yin Training10:00 - 12:00 & 15:15 - 17:15
Dao Yin exercises work by opening and stretching the channels of the body so that they are enabled to cleanse themselves and develop a more resilient and healthy body. Participants will learn various Dao Yin exercises promoting awareness of energetic channels within the body and the opening of joints and tissues.
Butoh – Deconstruct the Darkness10:00 - 12:30
Never fixed in culture or time, Butoh remains a personal investigation. Examine bodily actions through the filters of image (i.e.: your feet have melted), condition (i.e.: become rigid then soften) and ethos (i.e.: your body is not your own). The training will encourage physical and mental receptivity as well as precise physical engagement. Build a coherent body ready to embrace the chaotic stream of the subconscious.
Seki Method Workshop by Minako Seki10:00
Universe 9, Hergiswil
Through imagination we can connect consciousness with unconsciousness, as well as micro cosmos with macro cosmos. Imagination is our creative impulse and our motor for artistic expression.
During the workshop we use the power of imagination as a main source, to evoke our senses and create natural quality in the physical principles of movement. MORE

The Ones We Fell Among20:00
inkboat commissions award winning interdisciplinary artist, Ann Carlson to make The Ones We Fell Among. This multi-phased performance project muses and reflects upon the movements, mythologies, behaviors and perceptions of earth’s largest land mammal, the elephant. With wild quiet and clumsy grace, Carlson borrows from the real, the imagined, and the symbolic to build a world of wonder and reckoning for master performers Shinichi lova-Koga and Dana lova-Koga.
